FFS woken at 0530 for obvs – cheeky bastard even said good morning – it’s the middle of the night.
Zimmered to bog – leg quite stiff / aching this am so had some pain killers when offered, Then sat for hours dicking about on phone waiting for breakfast and a coffee to arrive.
Not sure what is wrong with chap next to me – brought in from surgery last night but he seems in a lot of pain and is muttering to himself a lot as he falls back to sleep – very old age is scary. Also screams from some bloody women sporadically in ward next door. I am in a version of hell.
Headphones empty of charge as had them on a fair few hours last night to block out all the sounds – nursing staff never answer the phone which seems to be ringing constantly, the mutterings etc
I did call nurse around 2 am as I heard poor old Mirza asking for help.
There is an autistic boy in one bed, Mirza in another, a Ukrainian chap called Anetole with a head injury – who – every night tries to go home (he has been here since 13th Sept – I don’t fucking blame him trying to eacape this asylum) a chap called Shah in next bed with a bladder problem whose ring tone is a call to prayer which was going off almost constantly while he was in surgery then this old chap who arrived last night replacing some Chinese guy called Raj who had fallen off a ladder breaking both his feet.
It is a shit show literally, the smell of which pervades the air given three of the six have stomas and catheter bags.
Who the fucking fuck would be a nurse?
Mind you why they have alarms on anything is beyond me as they ignore them so just another source to annoy other patients with really.
I am laughing to myself though as this is supposed to be an orthopaedic ward so a few leg injuries and yet door on bog has self closure so tricky to negotiate with a zimmer and they have a pedal bin in there as if they are deliberately taking the piss or pointing out how you cannot use one of those – the bog flush lever, sink, taps and paper towels all seem to be located in the most awkward of places – well at least for me with a hurty leg.
Also, nurses are noisy fuckers who never shut up. No attempt at all to be quiet, not even in the middle of the night. i am knackered from sleep deprivation.
