Saturday 26th Sept
Up at 7 and after picking up a Prêt coffee was on 0754 to LGW. Check-in a breeze – was a bit nervous as massive bag was 2kg over weight – no matter what I did I couldn’t get the weight down, backpack also heavy as is full of camera gear. TBF I do have tent, mattress, pillow, sleeping bag, jet boil, tent peg hammer and clothes ..
It’s only at airports (isn’t it?) where it’s ok to have a glass of Ridgeview Rosé at 9 am?
Had it with a heated croissant and jam which was nice.

Arrived safe and sound and so pitched the tent
Once I was sorted I cycled over to Cobo Bay with the cameras for my first attempt. Then sat outside the Rockmount hotel and had a beer. Cycled home after for a chill and to make sure everything was good then back to Cobo and La Reunion for dinner of Chicken Kiev and a nice half bottle of Rioja.
Slept like a baby.
