Marking time in Nairobi

Wednesday 16th Sept

We have a day to kill as our flight tonight is 2255. We have a noon checkout and Carla has booked a Nairobi walking tour at 1 pm.

Our plan is to shower and freshen up on our return, eat something then rendezvous with our transfer back to the airport at 8pm.

Woke at 8, dithered in room, eat a light breakfast then we each read for a couple of hours before checking out and sitting in bar with a beer prior to our tour.

I am now in the reading groove proper and am powering through a book I had bought a while ago : The secrets of Station X – all about Bletchley Park and the code breaking miracles it achieved during the second work war. Carla and I visited a few years back but am definitely inspired to go for another visit soon.

The walk was … interesting but there really isn’t anything pretty or even remotely interesting about Nairobi I am afraid.

This Stork was standing on the roof of a tat and food market

We übered back to hotel then killed yet more time before heading to airport … slight shock when the check-in lady said we didn’t have seats and were on standby – there was a hint we might get upgraded to 1st but then they found us two seats in Business … phew.

Chaos at the gate but once we were on the plane all was calm.
