Up at 0730 and tidied flat a bit as Isabel and Ali are over from Toronto and may be staying over tonight after pub and drinks in Islington.
Cycled to gym and arrived too early as forgot we had rescheduled for 0930. No matter, had a nice chat with one of the receptionists at ‘UNTIL’ – he told me he was training to be a train driver so we had a connection. Always great to see Rudy so did my workout / chat and catchup then cycled home to meet Carla as we are off to my cousin Bill’s place (and his wife Wiebke) for lunch at their place in Gomshall.

So ‘your man’ (that’s for you Emily Campbell) is now leader of the Labour party. I was a big fan of Keir and Rachel Reeves and feel they have done a lot of-un reported (unless you look for it) good and undoubtedly made a fair few mistakes too that ultimately did for them with the Labour Left. I am cautiously optimistic that the ‘cock ‘o the north’ Andy Burnham will be more radical but slightly worried how anti south and London in particular he seems to be – I take solace from the fact that he is in favour of more regional power so that surely means Sadiq and London too. Time will tell. I read Farage is out of favour now with the right wing press and had a right old set to with Murdoch’s man at the Times so hopefully Clacton will fall to bin face .. that would be a dream scenario but unlikely probably. Interesting times in uk politics.
England play Argentina later in the Rugby and we need a win to avenge (slightly) Wednesdays footballing disaster – fingers crossed.
Had a lovely afternoon at Bill and Wiebke’s; bill made a fantastic paella and shared his secret weapon – a bottle of paella spices made in Wales …
After lunch we wandered in and around Shere (home of the film the Holiday).
Home at 7 to an attempt to emulate Dan Regan’s toasted cheese and onion sandwich (mine was 5/10 I reckon) then watched the Rugby (between my fingers – we scraped a win – crazy match with 6 yellow cards) then the football – even madder but zero jeopardy and a great watch.
