Up earlier than normal today as we are going to Aarhus – a 75 minute drive away.
What a lovely city on the sea. We arrived then strolled to a recommended café for cakes, coffee and a BMO each – ‘Bolle med ost’ (bun with cheese) – very nice it was too.
We then walked through the town to the art museum to see ‘the Dome’ a skyspace exhibition by artist James Turrel – essentially an artwork experience made with light – a massive dome with various lights and a top that opens to the sky once per hour – we sat and relaxed in there for an hour so it was really meditative.
We then pottered around a few of the other exhibitions including the rainbow walk on the roof (before grabbing a beer and enjoying the views from the sky garden).
After a couple of hours there we walked to the harbour for a swim in the natural pool – really bloody cold – billed at 19 degrees it really was not. One of my retirement objectives is to wild swim / natural swim more and overcome how much of a wimp I am – it was bloody freezing but I managed to get in slowly and then overcoming that last stage of anxiety to go for it. In true Michael McIntyre fashion I and every other person can never help ourselves from saying ‘it’s nice when you’re in’ – it was- we dried off in the sun then we all had really lovely beyond meat burgers – another walk along to the end of the pier then a stroll back to the car for the drive home. Dan has a Tesla model 3 and whilst we can all agree (and do) how awful Musk is – those cars are fabulous.
