Sunday 5th July
Today we were up late again as coach to Porto departing at 1130. Our flight is very late so will be touch and go whether trains are still running. I thought I had upgraded us for the flight out but as usual messed up so we have business class home which means my infeasibly large bag may make it out quickly … last train is 0040 and flight lands at 2345 .. we may have to throw ourselves on the mercy of über which in England nowadays feels increasingly shit (had to cancel 3 in last few weeks as they have been taking way too long).
So coach was ok actually – we dropped bags at airport for 3 hours – €6 per locker for three hours or € 16.50 for 24h we chose 3h so travelled in and out under pressure! Jumped metro into town – eat (prawns) and drank (beer and sangria) then metroed back to airport.
Sat in lounge and chatted to a couple from ‘the north’ – they were lovely but flying to Manchester and slightly stressing about being home for the England game, their plane was late. Had 10 quarter tasteless sarnies and 3 wines then boarded – let’s see if my bag really is prioritised because of course that’s bullshit.
God we queue through passports, queue to check in at gate, queue on bridge, queue on plane and aircon doesn’t work while on stand … why is flying the shittest passenger experience? Then the cheeky bastards ask ‘we hope you enjoyed your flight’ – also I do not give a shit about the altitude we are flying at – does anyone? and … every single safety demo is EXACTLY the same on every plane …
