Woke late and straight to a lovely little café next to hotel. The usual coffee, juice and here a croissant a la plancha … Carla flummoxed by that.
Guru walk at 10 am, however Guru didn’t turn up so Carla blagged her (and my) way on to another tour that was really good – focused mostly on the cathedral and the camino and the birth of santiago but included some good restaurant and bar recommendations too. We finished at 1145 so sat in a bar just outside the market and had a beer and a ‘Refresco’ for Carla. Was pretty windy all morning (unusual for Santiago apparently) but sitting here now it is roasting hot. Wandered the market which as always – in Europe – lovely and … scouted a lunch spot for tomorrow.
Wow we had an amazing lunch – ChatGPT suggestion yesterday that we booked – a little out of town but so worth it. ‘O Sendeiro’
Tiger prawns to start – Carla had the pork cheeks – exquisite and I had Hake in Hake tripe sauce with green beans and samphire – wow. The wine was lovely too – Veran see the picture . Beautiful courtyard setting and not too expensive. Am trying to persuade the human Duracell that is Carla re the joys of a siesta – she isn’t buying it though and says ‘I can sleep and she will do her admin’ (Who does that?)
Well siesta’s were had – lovely – then we bar hopped in the evening, watched an open air wind and percussion orchestra warming up for a plein air concert then had an early night. I love retirement
