1st July (day 6 of my retirement)
An oh so lazy start to the morning as our train out of Vigo leaves at 1231. After repacking suitcases – me by meticulously folding all my dirty clothes and Carla using her ‘stuff everything in together technique’ we walked up to a spot we have been having breakfast all week. As there is a uk cruise ship in the prices have spiked (as a consequence of the many tattooed Brits drinking beers at 10 am in the morning) so yesterdays €15.5 breakfast cost €20.5 today … Carla as you can imagine is outraged.
Arrived, train was a breeze. A slow gradual ascent (22 mins) to hotel dragging massive suitcase. Halfway along we stopped on a pedestrian cobbled street for lunch and it was €41 well spent – menu de dia for €11.99. we both had steamed mussels (in wine and parsley that we both sipped from the bowl) then ribs and patatas bravas finished with arroz con leche. I had three (small) obligatory beers (estrella galicia again Veran) so after lunch we chilled in the hotel. We have a loft room very nice but very bright.
Out again at 1730 for a wander still stuffed from lunch and it is roasting hot out. Not sure we will eat tonight but we have booked what looks like an excellent restaurant for a late lunch tomorrow.
My sister Chris has been very picky about my spellings so I have to be careful though maybe I will just wait for the corrections then edit … given nowadays and probably always ‘iscba’ (guesses please) …
Ooo I must mention I used my recently purchased table wedges at lunch today a small plastic shim to stabilise the table … and I remembered to take with me – see the photo … I literally have everything !
